In the days when no stoves where available, food was cooked out in the open and roasted over wood coals. A tradition which is still taken very seriously inĀ  South Africa.

As old as time itself.

It is a practice which has been forged into an art form with a very clear distinction between what is a braai and what is not. The critical factor is the coals that give the food a smoked woody flavour
